Acquiring a POS system package may look easy. Internet has been populated with thousands of suppliers promising the best business solutions for your business. However, it can be difficult and confusing in so may reasons. All of the POS systems out there offers similar features such as sales and inventory which will help you manage your retail or distribution business. But is that what you only need with a POS system?

Here are some tips on how you can effectively plan your POS purchase. This will in return save you time, money and headache.
FINDING A SUPPLIER
Start looking for your supplier over the internet. Google and facebook are the best source of information right now. Check each of the companies who offer free trial or free on-site demo of their software. Free trials are good for you because you will be able to see if the software fits your business operation. If it dosn’t fit, it is time to ask the provider if they allow or accept customization of the system.
Software customization often times done for a fee. Check with your chosen provider. There are some providers who offer free software customization at the most reasonable time frame. For some, they do charge a higher than the others. The reason behind charging higher or lower could be about the size of the company. Number of employees of each company would require them to charge you a bit more higher than what it should be.
CHECK THE RIGHT FEATURES
Reading the software features one by one can be time consuming. Some POS offers end to end solutions which could be great for every business. But there are times when software features often mislead users with terminologies. Some software features in POS have good sounding features which may talk about similar software features having different terminology. It is best to talk about the providers about the features. What it meant and/or what it does.
Don’t be shy to ask. Providers will be very much happy to help you with your questions. Besides, they are selling. Apart from that, they really want to help. Providers oftentimes want to talk with people who asks for help.
Asking will make the providers understand your needs. Thus, will enable them to provide you a better solution for every situation. Don’t stick with some POS providers who only promises that you will be happy with their system. Check out the ones who want to adjust for you.
FIND OUT ABOUT STABILITY
A software implementation “Key Success” is its stability. Unstable software will lead to more complex problems than solved. This will lead to operational delays, headaches, later reporting, inaccurate reporting and a lot more issues.
Check out a software. Perhaps, you should ask the provider directly. Although the trial version may help you out in this part but sometimes, trial versions and not exactly the software that fits your needs but trials are merely tools of providers to entice you with what are the features included in the software. This could easily overwhelm you with information as trials usually doesn’t come with any training. This in turn will take much of your time. Stability is easy to find out. Ask the provider for a visit or an online demo. They will be glad to show you how their system works. They will even show you inputs. So its easy to see.
WEB AND MOBILE COMPATIBILITY
Business people are mobile. They go from one places to another. Bringing with them, their mobile internet and their laptops so they can work anywhere. You might need some mobile reporting features for your POS System. Information about your sales and inventory is crucial.
Being able to see your reports on the go is a HUUGE relief. You do not need to ask anyone to send you reports which could also cause delay in information. Being able to do it on your own is a great help since you do not need to wait for reports.
If you are allowed to customize for a fee or FREE, it means there is more room for your system to improve. Being able to request for new features is one of the best thing you could do. Time change. You will never know when you will need new features for your POS.
Time flies, who knows? Tomorrow you will need a new report that are not existing in your system and it may exist in other system which you are not using. You cannot change a system easily when you are already using one. CUSTOMIZE. It is the best way.
Looking for a better support is one of the hardest part. Why? Everyone claims that you will receive an after sales support. But does it happen all the time? It doesn’t have to be a 24/7 support. You just need an on time support. 24 hour response time is good enough. Some are within 48 hours or less.
You also have to be responsible though. You must help your provider support you quickly. Tips? Send them a detailed information about the error. Best thing is give them the exact error message. You must also let them not instantly about how you came across the error message. This will enable them to reply or answer you with the correct solution at first glance. This will save you time because you will not have a lot of email exchange before your provider give you the best solution.
